Laughing in the Face of Chaos: A Mom’s Battle with Murphy’s Law and Covid

Hey there! Today, I’m throwing off my serious blogger hat (#pretending to act serious is not my cup of tea) and diving into a hilariously personal journey – battling Covid again, but this time in my own country. And to add a cherry on top of the cake, my husband is conveniently on a business trip, ( #Singapore), Murphy’s Law is having a field day in my house(!!!!) and we even missed our first Art gathering of HomeAway From Home Xperiences . Oh, the comedy of errors! Did I mention that my daughters are having their midterms and they need mom’s full attention???

The Unexpected Encore:

Just when I thought I had bid farewell to Covid, it decided to make a surprise comeback in my life. Talk about a plot twist! But wait, there’s more! Murphy’s Law, being the mischievous companion that it is, decided to join the party once again. And as luck would have it, our first Art gathering of HomeAway From Home Xperiences coincided with my battle against the virus and my partner rushing her son to the hospital. It’s like the universe is playing a cosmic prank, testing the limits of my resilience and sense of humor.

A Hospital Dash:

As if battling Covid and Murphy weren’t enough, let’s add another adventure to the mix- a hospital dash with my business partner and her child. Just when we thought things couldn’t get any crazier, universe threw us another curveball- but hey, who’s backing down from a challenge? NOT US! With a bit of panic, a lot of strength and determination we realized that we have each others’ backs.

Mixed Emotions: LOLs and OMGs:

As the news of testing positive for Covid sank in, a mix of laughter and disbelief washed over me. I couldn’t help but think, “Of course, this would happen when we were eagerly looking forward to our first Art gathering. It’s like the universe has a wicked sense of timing.” It’s a comedy of errors, with a touch of irony and a sprinkle of “Oh my goodness, what are the odds?” Cue the laughter and the occasional facepalm.

A Comedy of Errors:

It’s like being in a sitcom, with each episode presenting a new challenge. From confusing guidelines to ever-changing protocols, it feels like the universe is determined to keep us on our toes. But fear not, for we are armed with resilience, laughter, and the ability to find joy even in the midst of disappointment.

Support and Isolation: The Lonely Stand-Up Act:

As an expat, I’ve learned the importance of building a support network. But when Murphy’s Law strikes and we miss out on our much-anticipated Art gathering, it’s a stand-up comedy act with a twist. We may not have pictures to share, but we have memories of laughter ( countless texts with my business partner trying to figure out the planets’ alignment ) and camaraderie that will last a lifetime. It’s a reminder that even in isolation, we can find solace in the shared experiences and the bond we create with our HomeAway From Home community.

Resilience and Laughter: The Best Medicine:

Through all the ups and downs of this hilariously chaotic journey, one thing remains constant – resilience and laughter. We’ve learned to find humor in the absurdity of it all. Laughter truly is the best medicine, even when battling a virus, Murphy’s Law, and the disappointment of missed gatherings. So, we’ll keep the laugher, next time maybe we’ll consult an astrologer for our lucky days and we will keep on going.

So if you expected just a typical announcement of the gathering’s cancellation, well life is too short to be boring.

Till our next one- Hopefully  Covid free and with the stars’ blessings.
